Counselling Interns
At Lakeland Psychological Services, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of mental health professionals and upholding our standards of excellence in therapy services. Counselling Interns benefit from the guidance and support of our Clinical Director, Genevieve Milliken.
Through regular supervision and participation in training sessions and case consultation meetings, our interns receive valuable hands-on experience and mentorship to enhance their skills and knowledge. This structured approach ensures that our interns are well-prepared to provide high-quality care and support to our clients, while also fostering their professional growth and development.
Intern counsellors are students in their final year of a masters level program. Lakeland Psychological Services offers affordable counselling to support the needs of our community. Sessions with Counselling Interns are not eligible for insurance reimbursement.

Mikayla takes an individualized and collaborative approach to counselling, recognizing that each client brings their own experiences, perspectives, strengths, and goals. She believes clients are the experts in their own lived experiences and takes the time to understand their perspective when working together. Mikayla aims to provide a respectful and supportive environment while working with clients to identify goals and approaches that fit their individual needs.
