Counselling Interns

At Lakeland Psychological Services, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of mental health professionals and upholding our standards of excellence in therapy services. Counselling Interns benefit from the guidance and support of our Clinical Director, Genevieve Milliken. Through regular supervision and participation in training sessions and case consultation meetings, our interns receive valuable hands-on experience and mentorship to enhance their skills and knowledge. This structured approach ensures that our interns are well-prepared to provide high-quality care and support to our clients, while also fostering their professional growth and development. Appointments with a Counselling Intern will be available September 2024 for ages 4+.

Meet Our Interns

Counselling Interns offer reduced rate therapy at Lakeland Psychological Services from September to June.

  • Joanna is a personable therapist who is passionate about utilizing a strengths-based, client-centered approach to bring forth and build on client strengths and capabilities.   She has over 5 years of experience working with children and youth as a school counsellor utilizing both individual and group therapy to build strong connections and support students. In her work she often integrates both art and play based techniques while maintaining a trauma informed approach.

    Joanna completed her Bachelor of Psychology degree at the University of Hawaii at Manoa while on a full ride athletic scholarship. Currently, she is a Master’s of Counselling Psychology practicum student with Athabasca University. She looks forward to serving clients at Lakeland Psychological Services while enhancing her professional development and contributing to her community.
